More than 200 international experts in lubricants and industrial maintenance gather in Donosti

Industrial lubricants are an essential component in sectors such as aerospace, energy, and automotive to reduce friction and prevent, for example, wear and corrosion of production equipment. Research and increased knowledge in this field are therefore key to ensuring the sustainability of the industry.

The international LUBMAT-IBERTRIB 2024 conference gathers more than 200 experts from around the world this week, from tomorrow until Thursday, at the Kursaal Auditorium in Donostia to present the latest scientific and technological advancements on the path to predictive maintenance, which aims to extend the life cycle of machines, reduce costs, enhance process efficiency, and ultimately, increase company competitiveness.

Companies, research centers, universities, and speakers from Asia, America, and Europe will be present at this professional meeting, co-organized by the Tekniker technology center, a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), Atten2, Bureau Veritas, and The Jost Institute for Tribotechnology (UK). The event will feature its own exhibition space and a comprehensive program of presentations divided into three themes.

Specifically, the plenary presentations at LUBMAT-IBERTRIB 2024 will be given by Cristina Ortega, head of the space unit at AVS (“Science from space by AVS”, June 18 at 9:00 a.m.); Silvia Lazkano, president of Doba Solutions, with a broad professional trajectory including roles such as Director of Technological Development and Partnerships at Airbus (“Early Problems Detection in Aeronautics”, June 19 at 8:30 a.m.); and Itziar Landa, Director of Digitization at Petronor (“Optimizing and Monitoring the Life of Our Industrial Assets through Artificial Intelligence and 5G”, June 20 at 9:00 a.m.).

Additionally, the conference will feature prominent international figures as speakers such as Ian Sherrington (JOST, UK), Markus Matzke (BOSCH, Germany), Ali Erdermir, nominated as “Fellow of the EU Academy of Sciences” (Texas, USA), Aldara Naveira (SKF RecondOil, Sweden), Jorge Seabra (INEGI, Portugal), Gerardo Trujillo (AMGA, Latin America), Nicholas Spencer (ETHZ, president of the International Tribology Council), Nicole Dörr (AC2T, Austria), Jefferson Barbosa (CPFL, Brazil), Rafael Quiros (Bridgestone), Nicholas Petillon (IFTS, France), Guoxin Xie (Univ. Tsinghua, Beijing, China), Ian Taylor (JOST, UK), Yesid Gómez (Bureau Veritas, Spain), and Aitor Arnaiz (Tekniker, Spain).

About LUBMAT-IBERTRIB

LUBMAT is a biennial initiative jointly organized by Tekniker and The Jost Institute for Lubrication and Tribology to address the lubrication and wear of equipment with a focus on industry. LUBMAT aims to reach the industrial audience while keeping in mind the academic and scientific perspective. In its 2024 edition, in addition to Bureau Veritas, which joined the original organizers a few editions ago, Atten2 is incorporated, whose contribution will undoubtedly strengthen the interest in the conference among industrial attendees.

IBERTRIB, on the other hand, is a biennial symposium that brings together researchers working in Tribology from Spain and Portugal, alternating the location between the two countries.

LUBMAT is a well-established event now in its 9th edition, while IBERTRIB celebrates its 12th edition.
